I have read many reports on the growing population of muslims in Ethiopia, and I am very proud to have originated from such a diverse country that is full of many cultures and religions. Ethiopian muslims should be given equal rights as any other Ethiopian but I feel offended to hear about Muslims trying to change our Orthodox based laws. Ethiopia has been a Orthodox nation 300 centuries before even Europe adopted the religion and hundreds of years before Islam came along. As an Ethiopian my country should not change its laws for the comfort of a foriegn religion, that’s just like asking for equal rights for a christian in a muslim country! Christians in Dire Dewa are living in fear and persacution in their own land. Christians are the most accepting and kind people, we allow people of other religions to live amongst us as brothers and sisters, In Eygpt Coptic Orthodox Churches are burnt and and people are killed even though Eygpts majority was christian before Mohammad. The Ethiopian muslims live with a hiden agenda to make Ethiopia into a islamic country and destroy our beautiful culture and traditions that have been there for thousands of years! Ethiopia needs to wake up and close its boarders to stop the growing population of illegal immigrants and they need to keep our laws and traditions in place! We can not change for some new religion, its just like asking Saudi arabia to allow christians in their politics and change their laws for them! And last and foremost NO Mosques in Axum! That is holy land for Orthodox churches only! Will muslims allow for a church to be built in mecca? Obviously No!
